Runway is less an editor than a generative toolkit: text-to-video, video-to-video restyling, object removal and rotoscoping without a green screen. It is where you go for shots you cannot film.
Who it's for
B-roll you have no footage for, stylised inserts, and VFX cleanup that would otherwise need After Effects.
What we like
- Genuinely useful for generating footage that does not exist

What could be better
- Credit-based pricing gets expensive fast when iterating
- Generated clips are short — it complements an editor, it does not replace one
- Output still needs cherry-picking; not every generation is usable
