For Hindi & Hinglish creators
Descript vs VEED for Hindi subtitles and editing
Both editors transcribe Hindi and translate subtitles between Hindi and English. Where they split is how you edit, what their one-click cleanup actually understands, and what you pay from India.
Checked against each vendor's own documentation on 26 September 2026.

Pick Descript if
You record pure-Hindi podcasts or talking-head videos and want to edit by deleting words from the transcript, with English↔Hindi caption translation and dubbing in the same app.

Pick Veed if
You mostly need Hindi subtitles on Shorts and Reels, translated to or from English, and you want rupee pricing you can pay with a debit card.

Descript: great for pure Hindi, not for Hinglish
Descript's pitch is editing video like a document: delete a word in the transcript and the clip is cut. It lists Hindi among its transcription languages on every plan, including Free, and says transcripts stay editable whatever the source language.
Two caveats matter for Indian creators. Hindi is marked Beta, and Descript warns that accuracy varies by language and audio quality. More importantly, Descript says it supports only one language per file — so a Hinglish conversation that swings between Hindi and English is exactly what it is not built for.
VEED: the simpler subtitle workflow, priced in rupees
If your main job is getting Hindi captions onto short vertical videos, VEED is the more direct tool. It lists Hindi for both subtitle generation and translation, and documents the Hindi→English flow: generate Hindi subtitles, then translate to English. Words it is unsure about are highlighted for you to check.
It is also the easier purchase from India. VEED shows Indian visitors rupee prices — Creator at ₹490 a month billed yearly — and takes debit cards through Stripe. Its help centre says Indian users get annual plans only because of RBI rules, so expect to pay for a year up front.
One-click cleanup is English-first on both
Both tools advertise removing 'um's and awkward pauses in one click. Both limit that to English: Descript's filler-word detection works on English transcripts only, and VEED says Magic Cut is English only. Hindi fillers like 'matlab', 'haan' or 'toh' will not be caught automatically.
Silence trimming is a different story — neither vendor states a language limit for removing gaps, so that part should still save you time on Hindi footage.
Test the script before you commit
Neither Descript nor VEED says whether Hindi transcripts and captions come out in Devanagari or Roman letters. That decides whether your audience can read them, so upload a real two-minute clip on each free plan and look before paying.
If your audio is the problem rather than the captions, Adobe Podcast's Enhance Speech is worth a look: Adobe says it is language-agnostic, and the free plan cleans up to an hour of audio a day.
